Sands Atlantic City is Dead
Sands Atlantic City is now a goner. Finished, dead, kaput. It closed on November 11th, 2006 with little fanfare (though it did score a mil in revenue that day) after having been in operation for over 25 years. It will be replaced with a new casino resort opening in 2011. My only hope is that the owner, Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. (lead by “Karaoke Carl” Icahn), will retain the karaoke spirit that permeated throughout the once-great Atlantic city casino. Who could forget sweatin’ it to the oldies with DJ Big Al and karaoke at Swingers Lounge? I know I won’t soon forget it… I intend to be in town in 2011 to check out the new digs. Don’t disappoint me, Karaoke Carl.
In related news, it has been reported that two other new casinos might spring up in Atlantic City. This can only be good news for karaoke lovers. Unless they ripped down Planet Rose to do it. But they won’t, so it’s cool.
