Online Karaoke Site Records 2M Users

bobbykaraoke | News, Reviews | Thursday, January 18th, 2007

No, I’m not talking about BobbyKaraoke.com, I’m talking about our arch-nemesis and pain-in-the-ass karaoke website 51mike.

Yeah, it’s called 51mike. We won’t even talk about how dumb that is (it’s really dumb). Anyway, according to the Beijing Morning Post, the site is up to TWO MILLION lovers of karaoke! That is PROGRESS. It’s like YouTube meets Myspace meets Victor’s pub down the street.

The site allows karaoke fanatics to record their best performances on the site to let others view and vote on them. Unfortunately, there are currently no plans to expand to the USA…. yet.

Barry Manilow likes the karaoke

bobbykaraoke | Great Fun | Thursday, January 18th, 2007

It has been said “Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime.” I believe this philosophy also applies to karaoke… and Barry Manilow embodies this.

In an article published by one of my rivals, Manilow waxed eloquently about karaoke and its importance:

“All I can hope is that these songs are ruined in karaoke bars for years to come.”

In English: Barry recognizes the importance of karaoke and is offering FREE voice lessons to anyyone who wants to learn how to eat for a lifetime. Keep faith, Barry. We support you, sir.

Celebrity Endorsement of Bobby Karaoke - Ryan Andrew Approved!

bobbykaraoke | Announcements | Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Ryan Andrew, a celebrity Hollywood actor (IMDB link), issued the following statement today about Bobby Karaoke:

“I like your site. It’s fun, it’s fresh, (and) it’s a real tour de force.”

Bobby Karaoke would like to take this opportunity to point out that Mr. Andrew has been a supporter from the beginning, and even when this site had fallen on hard times (December of ‘06, for example), he encouraged us to “Tally Ho!” (those are my words, not his). Thanks, Mr. Andrew - you’re a class act!

American Idol is back with an all new season on Fox.

bobbykaraoke | Announcements | Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

I wasn’t paid to say that. But if I was, I would say, “Don’t miss the television’s most beloved program.”

Here’s the thing about AI (as the avid fans call it). Most of us true die-hard karaokers aren’t going to watch it for one simple reason: we’re practicing our own rip-offs for the Sat. night karaoke scene in Koreatown. I try to call in sick on Fridays so that I can get some added karaoke practice in before the big night.

I know what you’re thinking: “Bobby, you are crazy!” Well, you may be right. But one thing I’m not: A joke on Saturday night. The crowds love me and my voice. They call me little Bobby Sinatra, and little Bobby Springsteen. Do you get that kind of lovin? If not, I recommend visiting this site frequently to move up to the next level in karaoke. Even when I’m not writing posts for the site, I’m coming here every day to study. DON’T WASTE YOUR TALENT BY WATCHING AMERICAN IDOL. I’m just saying.

Yours in karaoke,
Bobby Karaoke

Karaoke Used For Good Part II

bobbykaraoke | News | Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

The nightly UK pub crawl turned to the good side tonight! Local singers screeched out some karaoke to help raise over £700 for a child whose life was saved by the membrane of a cow’s heart. If that doesn’t move you, then you aren’t a real karaoke singer. You’re a fraud.
